Extreme Entrepreneurship: From Bestseller to Must-Watch Videos

THANKS! They say “your 1st 1,000 subscribers is the hardest!”

You may be one of those first +1,000 to subscribe/follow one (or more) of my 3 channels (YouTube, Insta, TikTok)?

Here’s my promise: I’ll keep posting clips of wisdom from cool people in interesting places, if you watch/comment/subscribe/like/share. If you haven’t seen them, keep scrolling!

What kind of clips are on my video channels?

You’ll find stories like that of Jean Lobe in Cameroon (60-second clip and playlist of interview clips here). His father’s death made him realize 1/2 of a billion fellow Africans share a deadly challenge: having to make long journeys to see a doctor and many – like his father – die on the way there.

Here was his reaction: despite having a wife, a child, and safety, he quit a great job.

Why? To learn coding. And to build an instant medical consultation app. Waspito. Again, here’s a 60-second clip of his story, and if you want to learn more and see an (unplanned) demo, here’s the playlist of video clips that capture most of our interview in Cameroon, during the summer of 2024.

So what’s in it for you?

As in the case of the clip and playlist above, you’ll find wisdom in the actions, words, and storytelling of the people that I interview.

How did a law professor come to record videos of entrepreneurs?

As described in the preface of my #1 bestselling 1st book, Extreme Entrepreneurship, I partly intentionally (and partly by accident) kept finding interesting stories of founders (of businesses and charities) that turned out to be both great human stories AND excellent stories for the classroom (to spot the business and legal and ethical issues, and discuss how we’d act if we were the main characters).

Also in 2021, I started acting on the urging of a former student and some video producers, who said I should record videos of my interviews. The goal has been to create a cross between “Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown” (a travel show) and NPR’s Guy Raz’s show “How I Built This” (startup founder interviews). I’ve posted the videos on my YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@ExtremeEntrepreneurship, plus on TikTok and Instagram (links to those accounts below). We hope the videos are entertaining, uplifting, and educational.

How does relate to my research on law & sustainability issues?

A lot of stories that I record actually do involve solving problems related to sustainability, and often legal issues are inseparable from business and ethical issues! So yes, many stories relate to my research.

A call to action: finding-and-sharing the next few hundred stories – are you in?

What do we think? If you like any, please subscribe and comment: what did you like or get out of these?

One more time: THANK YOU if you are one of those precious first thousand subscribers!

You’re helping to get more “stories worth sharing” noticed.

Here’s to finding the next few hundred stories… and to winning-over the next 1,000 subscribers!
